Petition to Support Mayor Romero

Sign the petition to condemn the ill-informed and misguided efforts of extremists who are attempting to recall our Mayor

Las Adelitas Arizona is leading hundreds of individuals and a host of local organizations in collecting signatures in support of our Mayor Regina Romero. We condemn the ill-informed and misguided efforts of extremists who are attempting to recall our Mayor. This is an attack rooted in mis-information, racism and misogyny. We call on the Tucson community to Decline to Sign and to make your support of our Mayor clear by signing this petition and sharing it with others.

Las Adelitas Arizona issued the following statement today in advance of the deadline of the group led by failed candidate, Joseph Morgan.

"Las Adelitas Arizona affirms Mayor Regina Romero's work with the City Council, City Manager, County, and local associations, and non-profits to lead our city during this unprecedented global pandemic.

We believe this misguided recall effort is baseless. Mayor Romero was elected by a strong majority who continue to support her service and leadership during these unprecedented times.

This group of extremists cites their support of the Trump agenda. Leaders of this group were present during the January 6th insurrection at our nation's capitol. Their complaints are untrue and in terms of the COVID-19 concerns, not based in science or public health experts best practices.

We further believe in the deliberate and measured actions of Mayor Romero to keep our community as safe as possible. She was willing and able to lead when our state and federal governments were not. After consideration and consultation with Council Members and the City Manager, difficult but correct decisions were made. She led the effort mandating masks, expanding wireless access across our city, addressing infrastructure needs, helping to provide free and accessible transportation to residents who need it, including the City of South Tucson, partnering with local non-profits and foundations to efficiently and effectively distribute CARES Act money to those who need it in the form of rental assistance, utility assistant, daycare assistance, grants to small businesses, arts organizations and non-profits and more.

We refuse to participate in or perpetuate the cycles of violence and intimidation with our silence. The needless and baseless recall efforts come into play when people want to deny or overturn the results of fair elections. Strong women leading our state and country are facing similar recalls. It is time to say No! It is time to say Enough!"

In response to these actions, Las Adelitas Arizona, along with the individual and organizational signers of this petition, condemn the recall effort against Mayor Regina Romero. We encourage all Tucsonans to Decline to Sign the recall petitions and to support our Mayor in her important work.
